Curious what people like better and why you like it? My wife and I like both. Of course some houses have both views but if you had to pick one which one would it be and why? Killer strip view or beautiful mountain view? I am mainly thinking in terms of places like Summerlin but the exact location of the house isn't relevant for this question. TIA.

I prefer a Strip view because that’s how I fell in love with Vegas at first. I’m not as nature-y as many people, I have always found cities and skyscrapers and neon lights much prettier than just nature, but that’s me. I love the Strip at night, it’s just magical to me. That being said I do appreciate and enjoy both views. Our view has a huge wide open view of mountains and Strip so I’m glad I didn’t have to choose! A killer view isn’t necessary but boy is it appreciated!

I’m also weird in that I don’t “get used to” a view and stop enjoying it. I had a partial river view in Portland from my balcony, we were right on the water, and I’d sit out there with a glass of scotch and watch the boats pass, watch the water ripple, I just loved it. I never got sick of that view! My fiancé is the opposite, she likes views ok but gets used to them and stops noticing. I’m glad I keep enjoying! Lol

I'm edge of civilization vote. The lights coming into the valley at night are inspiring but I prefer the solitude of wilderness. I need room to breath and a place to stare at the stars. Nature is amazing. The mountain views around the valley are breathtaking.

I think in any other city than Vegas I would take mountain views.... but this is Vegas! Strip view please.

Del Webb actually sold homes for twice as much with an exceptional strip view. And I was personally involved with a recent example. A view home of 1500 SF just sold for $425,000. Same house sold in 2014 for $300,000. A standard street version of the house would go around $250,000. And this one was not even in good shape. Nice and clean and all that but solid early 2000th and never updated. My client, who did not get the house, was planning on spending $75,000 updating it.

note the view business is pretty complicated. And there is a lot more than strip or mountain. There is city. There is city with included strip. There is city with mountain. And there are a few places that do City/Strip/Mountains. And to any of these you can add in the local front end. For instance the peak ones in Sun City Summerlin have Strip and city over 25 acres of golf course and lake. And many of these go up in value as you go up the floors in a high rise.

In that case I'd do city/Strip view in one direction and mountain backyard. One of my friends had this though in a new development until they finished putting houses up around them. Then part of the view was obstructed.
