Have resided in the Evoq previously Las Palmas for 10 yrs and currently The Diplomat for 3 yrs. In all that 13 years, I have NEVER been late on rent or any other bills for that matter!

Trying to find another unit, but so many complexes require at least 2 times income of the monthly rent. I am retired and SS is my only source of income; which makes it difficult to make that requirement.

My current lease will expire on Sept. 30th. Please do not ask why I am moving as too many negative aspects of this unit and the complex in general...especially the PM.

Looking for a Studio, but will be 'open' on a 1 bedroom. Price <$900, safe and quiet!

Any suggestions/help appreciated?

Thanks,
Robert

P.S. Vegas is called the "Ninth Island" but, where do all the Hawaii people live?

Have you already been in touch with the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority or looked into their programs? Based on what you're describing, you may qualify for some of their programs and housing options. Link: https://www.snvrha.org/

From our different moves, while living in apartment complexes, each one had a "income requirement" that we had to meet. Wasn't this way numerous years ago, but today, it definitely is, unless a person is on HUD or some other "low income" state or federal program.

Do you have retirement savings you can show, or convert to an income stream?

The same in NY, seniors can't get apartments without a co-signer because their income requirement is more than the usual social security and pension amounts, yet they rent to Section 8 to get the government money. It's disgusting.

They know the government will pay. Some senior with no job and nothing but SS, not so much.

Sorry for not replying.

himain, If you mean for a home; looking for an apartment.

RosieSD, not yet, but I will definitely utilize them.

Babyboomers2, that's me.

BBMW, no. Just SS income.

Still looking, but only have till the end of this month. I have to give a 30 days written notice...lease ends Sep. 30th. Good news is that the monthly rent will not increase if I sign a 1yr. lease.

Yeah, I know. Then why move? To me, it's not worth $880 per month for what I consider a Studio (430 sq ft) as well as many little other things that I do not want to go into a diatribe about. Huge annoyance is the white dust-like particulates that populates everywhere! If I sign a new lease, I will have the air ducks (2) cleaned.

There is a Loft down the street that is ideal for what I need. Better location and rent is $700. However, no units are currently available.

Special thanks to RosieSD as I could use SNRHA's assistance. Will call today.

I appreciate ALL your inputs,
Robert

I don't know if someone on SS would qualify, but you should look into Section 8.

BBMW, Section 8 is not taking any applications and they do not know when they will. SNRHA is of no help either.

Well everyone, this is hopeless! Every Complex requires 2 or more times income. Guess I am forced to remain in my current location. Just hoping that an Air Ducts cleaning will resolve the dust or whatever it is dilemma.

Will update IF, bye a miracle, the 'stars align' and I find a Complex that is flexible.

Thanks,
Robert
