Thinking about moving to LA which of these areas should I start looking at first? What are the nice and bad areas of each place? How is the mass transit in each areas,etc?

Oh sorry, I'm going to be attending a recording school in Hollywood and as for rent I could really do $1000-$1500 a month by getting an apartment but I was thinking about saving some money and finding a shared place through craigslist. I was checking out some of the ads on there and the majority of the places were either in the SFV or SGV

Common advice around here is to live as close as possible to your work. I would take that pretty seriously. It's a rough commute from either valley to Hollywood.

Yeah i thought about that too maybe I can find something in Hollywood it would be cool to live closer to Melrose and Sunset. I heard North Hollywood in the SFV was a good affordable place to live. I'm also intersted in living somewhere near Pasadena that's affordable what's Altadena or San Gabriel like?
