Wait. Just. A. Second. Trump flew into LAX and then took a flight to Santa Monica?? That is THE most ridiculous thing I've EVER heard. He couldn't take that motorcade from LAX to Beverly Hills?

And yes, Long Beach, a great city is the most important city outside of Los Angeles.

Carson/Wilmington.

It's where you get your fuel from.

Let that sink in.

That's directly Long Beach adjacent.

I was always happy to see that squadron of first of CH-53s then MV-22s Ospreys later as that squadron came out before a Presidential visit flying north along the San Diego Freeway. As someone who works ln western Los Angeles I would rather Marine One go over the top on one of the most congested places than to have Trump jams join Obama jam in the local lexicon.

I dont think one can say that one American city is more "important" than another. Important how? What criteria are you using to define "important"? "Important" in what way?

I leave it up to those who reply, to choose their criteria --
some nominated Long Beach for its population and its harbor.
Pasadena is a contender for its big science establishment
(Cal Tech, NASA's JPL, etc.)

Artesia is the most important city for me since I like Indian food. On my last visit to the LA Metro I made 3 trips there to eat out and get takeout food in their Little India.

I would agree that economically Long Beach is the second most important but I have almost no reason to go there.

The complaint was Marine One flying over the top of western Los Angeles rather than a motorcade blocking off even more streets with the Secret Service's security perimeter for a Presidential visit was it not? President Obama made many visits to the area and "Obama Jam" was a local name that arose for the disruptions caused at the place he landed. Multiply those jams many times to the routes when he was driven around.

H.W. Bush made a flash motorcade drive around South LA after the Rodney King Riots but in that case the Secret Service depended upon surprise and speed to keep him safe rather than the bigger security bubble effecting many more folks commutes that had arrived by the turn of the century and the ongoing Global War on Terror.

So yes it makes me happy to see that squadron with the two Marine One's and their Marine and Secret Service back ups which used to be in CH-53 helicopters and are now in Osprey tilt rotors getting preset to fly over western Los Angeles
