Niche says it is the No. 1 charter system in CA! So it can't be bad.

How does it compare to, say similarly large and reputerable non-LAUSD districts such as Los Alamitos or Walnut?

"Please note that even though there is a preference for applicants who reside in the pre-charter attendance boundary, an application is required by everyone." -- In reality, how strong is this "preference"?

Thanks!

Niche is a for-profit website. It--and many like it--are fine for a basic summary of where that district ranks within the state.

https://www.niche.com/k12/search/bes.../s/california/

Los Alamitos Unified is one of the top ranking public school districts in the state. I don't know much about Walnut (which is ranked highly as well).

Charters are to serve students in lower ranking public school districts, such as LAUSD. Some of them are very good, but it would be difficult to find criteria or lists as to how to compare them with public schools.

I dont know much about "Niche" but the standard go-to website for REAL non-biased school reviews is here: https://www.greatschools.org/california/

Since Walnut and Los Alamitos are so far from Granada Hills (LAUSD) chances of finding someone here with knowledge who can accurately compare them is very very slim.

As far as residency, usually if you reside in the schools zone you are IN. I believe its twice per year when the Choices applications come out that you can apply if you dont reside in the school's geographical zone. Its usually a lottery after that to see who gets in.

As mentioned in the other threads you started, why consider so many schools which are soooooo far apart in terms of location?

Considering the different districts because housing inventory is so low. I mean, just take a look at the offerings within Seal Beach/Los Alamitos right now -- really not many choices. I am basically looking at all the better school districts within 90min of Culver City.
