Best bookstore ever. I purchased all of my CRC Press books from them. Mostly because they were the one of the few places one could find them. Vroman's along with Canterbury Record Store are treasures.

Vroman’s Hastings Ranch will close in May according to an email statement sent out on Wednesday (3/27/24).

“Today, we are disappointed to share with you that we were unable to reach an agreement with the property owner of Hastings Ranch that was sustainable, due to increasing occupancy expenses.”

When the announcement
(about the Colorado Blvd bookstore) was made in January, negotiations were ongoing regarding the Hastings Ranch Vroman’s location and there was optimism about continuing the business there.

But things did not work out.

Twelve employees will be impacted by the store closure. Store owners said they were “most disheartened by the impact on our co-workers.”

“Their dedication and hard work made that store successful, and we are forever grateful,” according to the statement.

Company officials said they are doing everything they can to support those employees through continued employment with the company where possible.

“We ask for your consideration and kindness toward our colleagues at Hastings Ranch as we go through this process. Bookstores matter,” the statement said.

I've gone a total of a handful of times total, but if I lived a lot lcoser to them, I would have gone a little more often. I never heard of Vroman until I think I was in my very early 30s when my mom's boss gave her a gift card & my mom gave it to me. I remember my very first time there & it was great, but my excitement diminished more & more each of the few times afterwards that I came here.

I tell you, it's an odd feeling when I see that various longtime places are closing up permanenly. My local Johnny Carino's Italian & Claim Jumper restaurants recently closed. This morning, just found out ALL 99¢ stores in the US are closing!
