Would the garden district area a few blocks from Forsythe park be safe? Also, are there any good public schools in that district? May be relocating from New Orleans to Monroe for work and looking at areas with walk ability.

My brother lives in Monroe and loves it. He lives in the nicest part of Monroe where there are hundreds of gorgeous houses. West Monroe has better public schools if you have kids and want them to go to public school. West Monroe is considered more "red neck" for better or worse.
