I'm confused by this whole thing. What's the difference?

2nd, I hear people throwing around the term Coonass and is that supposed to be an insult or a compliment? Does it apply to Cajun or Creole? Not trying to be smart, just looking for answers.

Coonass is a like a badge of honor. It's used for those born in Louisiana, or "registered coonasses".
