Hi! We will be moving to Louisville very soon and intend to rent till we are really familiar and know where we want to ultimately buy. My husband is an avid runner and would like to be able to get in 4 - 5 miles in the mornings, hopefully in a safe and scenic area. I also like to take our dog for long walks. We were spoiled several years ago when we lived in Nashville near the Percy and Edwin Warner Parks. Would love to find something like that again. He will be working on Fern Valley on the east side of I-65. We'd like to find a place to rent with at least 2 bedrooms & 2 baths for around $1200 a month. Thanks for your suggestions!

Cherokee and Seneca parks are awesome places to go for a jog or walk. There are a lots of nice, older neighborhoods with smaller homes and big old houses that have been broken into apartments like you are looking for surrounding those parks. St. Matthews is my favorite neighborhood in Louisville. Nice restaurants, bars, shops...

safe, scenic, running. Yes, you diagnosed your neighborhood for me, I am just here to give you the name. You most definitely belong in the Highlands and since you are willing to pay over 1000 a month, you can find a luxury two bedroom two bath condo with plenty of space to rent for the year right on historic Cherokee Park in Louisville's Highlands. I recommend this specific subneighborhood in the Highlands for you:

Bonnycastle, Louisville - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a very vibrant and active area with dog walkers, runners, joggers, and an outstanding eclectic pedestrian corridor with upscale restaurants and local bookstores and coffeeshops.

Cherokee Park - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

read the articles and follow the links and you will most likely like what you see. In my humble opinion, Louisville's Highlands is far superior to any in Nashville for many reasons.

Start Looking here for apartments:

louisville apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist

I HIGHLY recommend you jump very fast on that rental in the Commodore apartments that was listed for rent On Sunday, Oct 14th for 1195 per month with utilities. I have no connection to these people but you sound like a wonderful fit for that area and the historic highrise building which overlooks 400 acre Cherokee Park. As you will see, any good rental on the park does not last long at all. If I had that money to spend on a rental, I would LOVE to live there. Let me know if you need anymore help.
