Looking for a Louisville resident who would share library card number. I like checking out their ebooks, but they're going to cut me off because I'm outside the city. Am very responsible. Please help.

Forgive me for butting into this forum, but as a former library director, I might be able to help. I just checked and unlike my state where anyone in the state can get a library card, in your case you do have to live within the area. But it seems that for $25 you can get a card if you live in one of the areas they list

(P.S. I'm happy to see people using their public libraries. They hold a wealth of information and entertainment for free or nearly free. It's not just books anymore.) I hope this is the library you're referring to.

Thanks for the info. It won't work for me right now, though, because I've moved out of the area. But I like the library's offerings and I'd like to keep my access if I can.

Actually, I've got a reprieve. They sent another email saying the last one was in error and I've been extended through December. Still interested in sharing a number, though, just in case.

Many Kentucky libraries have reciprocal borrowing, offering free cards to residents of counties bordering each other. I live in Fayette County, but in addition to my Lexington Public Library card, I have a (free) Woodford County library card.

If this doesn't apply to you, do consider paying that $25 for a non-resident card. Sharing a library card with a non-family member is a recipe for trouble and broken friendship, and $25 is one of the best bargains you can find these days.

Pay the $25, it’s a bargain for unlimited audiobooks. No one should share their library card number. Like sharing your cable or Netflix account, it is a form of stealing.
