My husband and I are moving to Louisville in May to be closer to family. We have visited a few times and like the vibe. We found a great little house near the Gene Snyder and Bardstown Rd. Are there any tucked away places we should visit? Restaurants, parks or stores?

There is a good BBQ restaurant south on Bardstown Road...Bootleg BBQ. Also good BBQ going north...Marks Feed Store.
Nearby is a good ice cream shop...Graeter's.

There is a Honey Baked Ham store on Bardstown Rd. Pricey but good. They have a sandwich counter there too.

Also south on Bardstown Rd is Broad Run Park...a newer section of our parks department development.

Welcome to the area.

Louisville has tons of tucked away quirky eating places, especially in the area you’ll be moving.

Broad Run Park (part of Parklands of Floyds Fork) is very nice, Moss Gibbs Woodland Garden is my favorite section of the the entire Floyds Fork system. Feels like something out of Alice and Wonderland. Continuous bike path from Broad Run all the way to Shelbyville Rd, too.

In 2023, there are tons of migrants from Third World countries living in the Fern Creek area of Louisville, which is near where you and your husband will be living. As of June 1, 2023, Kentucky has already accepted 8,000 refugees during the current year, and 6,900 of those refugees have been resettled in Louisville-Jefferson County. After California, New York, and Texas, Kentucky has accepted the highest number of refugees among U.S. states. However, California, et al. have significantly larger populations and more resources than Kentucky. As a result, Kentucky’s local infrastructure is more heavily strained by this migrant crisis. Here is a link to that news report: https://www.wave3.com/2023/06/07/lou...e-population/#.

Using the eye test, the Fern Creek-Jeffersontown area appears to be ground zero for migrant resettlement within the Louisville metropolitan area, which includes refugees, legal immigrants and illegal aliens. For your awareness, all of the stores and restaurants in the southern part of the country are now filled to the brim with migrants speaking Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Congolese, etc. In fact, a woman was recently raped by a Hispanic migrant at a bar near the junction of Bardstown Road and Hurstbourne Lane.
