We lost power for 2 hours this morning; 3am to 5am.

14 inches, a steady breeze and flakes are still falling.

Sounds like heaven to me. I know, I wouldn't think so if the power was out. That's one of the reasons we chose the particular house we rented. It has a generator. I would have liked a wood burning fireplace, or even a wood burning stove, but you can't have everything.

We've had so much drift here that when I went to leave for work at 4 yesterday, I had to blast through a driveway drift though Plow Guy had been here about 7 AM. Silly me, though, I forgot to take a shovel along and by the time I got off work at 9, the driveway needed some serious help.

Oh, I TRIED to "Subaru plow" my way through, but only made it half way through the drifted area. It was only one side of the driveway, though. I could still see my outgoing tracks on the east side of the path. A walk to the house and about 15 min with the shovel and I had knocked down the drifts well and far enough that Subaru could plow through them.

Apparently it wasn't blowing so badly overnight -- or the snow had settled a bit -- for I was able to blast through this morning for our town errands pretty easily. Oh, I could tell I was plowing through and the car was letting me know it wasn't totally on dry pavement, but we made it.

Plow Guy came back while we were gone (I left a message with his wife when I picked up my paycheck) and things are much nicer now. for now...
