I was laughing when I wrote the post. It is like "the problems of the very rich." I am bitter about the beautiful natural areas in MD being sacrificed to development, and the overpopulation and taxes, but that's probably not your fault. I enjoy hanging out in the Gardening forum, but occasionally I visit the MD forum--where I live--and it usually *****es me off. I am a somewhat long-time resident of the state, and it is really sad to see how areas like Owings Mills, Howard County and Southern MD (KentIs., Calverton etc) have been totally destroyed by over-development. And there are tons of people continue to move here. I also don't like the snobbishness of some of the people on the board. It is gross to think they're sharing my state.

I was serious about sending the kid to private school, though. Parents even in my class send their children to private school. The contacts are important and the cachet is important to a lot of people.

Best of luck.

Potomac, MD is a generally high dollar area? Yeah, sure.

So then weren't you one of the tons of people that moved there?

I was dragged kicking and screaming here, and for financial reasons (and graduate school), it is currently inconvenient to leave. I do enjoy a lot of things about MD, mainly the nature...state parks and other natural areas. Unfortunately I have seen a lot of areas ruined over the years in a irresponsible manner: Frederick, pretty much all of Southern MD, Owings Mills...I could go on and on. I also do not like materialistic snobs...who would?

I am on the other side, and I wish I had gone to private schools. The job opportunities in certain fields are bigger. If I could afford it, I would send my kids to private schools and an Ivy League university. I have to struggle to achieve the little success I have, and I think if I could, I would make it easier for my kids.
