There certainly is confusion, no question there. My wife is a teacher and got her appointment through a group arrangement with the county. She was told when calling the Health Dept. a few days earlier that "no appointment times were available."

After she signed up, the county Health Dept. had links put back up for 1A folks to set up appointments. I can't tell for sure if they were valid, although I called my grandmother to get her appointment time set up again. I haven't called her back to see if she was successful.

I wish I knew more, but the County Commission REALLY wants to get public schools back in session (and to stick it to the BOE, but that is another story) so maybe they fast tracked all the 1B teacher cohort. I'm just happy she will get one soon, and crossing my fingers she is OK until then since her school is doing live instruction.

I think Hogan opened up the vaccination groups based on the annoouncements that the doses being reserved for second shots were going to be released by the Federal Gov't. It was within a day after he announced it it came to light in the news media that there were no 'second doses being held back by the Feds and that they had released everything they had a couple weeks before.

Just bad timing on Hogans part. If he had held up for 24 hours he might not have oppened the new groups up.

Agree. The "sign up" sites go no where. Even when we see a site for availability (Schedule an appointment) and click on it we are getting a message...we cannot schedule now due to very limited availability.

I may wrong (write down the date) but, if I remember correctly, the original plan had each County getting the same number of doses-10,000 every whatever.

If that's the case it doesn't make any sense.

How insane. The state should be aggressively redistributing, as needed. MoCo politicians are hosting daily virtual town halls and press conferences that revolve almost exclusively around how they're begging the state for more doses. Meanwhile, other counties have administered as few as 58 of their 3900 doses? How many of the remaining 3800+ have already expired or will expire this week? It adds up to over 50,000 doses just sitting around rotting. What the **** is going on??

The story is a week old but may explain some of it. I know CE Alsobrooks mentioned lack of participation in her news conference a couple days ago.

I don't think anyone knows the answer. I keep hoping the numbers are wrong. If, as NBP says, 50% of the doses administered in PG went to MoCo residents, then PG residents got only 18% of the doses allocated.

The Very Woman, who has been attending Johns Hopkins every 6-8 weeks for the last 18 months to monitor an eye issue, got a letter from them today to say she was eligible to get vaccinated there, but they have no vaccine.

Last evening, a friend who needed a ride to get the Moderna vaccine sent me a link for registration. The link had been forwarded several times and I noticed it was a "private" email directed to health care workers. There were plenty of spots available for this coming week. The site was at a casino in Arundel Mills. I wasn't comfortable signing up because it was clearly meant for health care workers. My friend received a time slot even though she did not identify herself as a health care worker. She assumed the registration was valid because they accepted it. I warned her that she might be turned away even though she's very high risk for hospitalization. What a cluster! Most of the sites do not require that the registrant be a resident or worker in the county where the vaccination is being offered. But some do.
