I didn't say it was awful - I said that if you are moving to Millersville SOLELY for the SP schools then be careful because you might not wind up in SP schools.

Yay SP people! I live here, and I love the schools. I moved here from Gambrills with my family six years ago, and it is so much better. People are nicer, and it's been a great experience. I attended Benfield, Severna Park Middle, and am attending SPHS currently. I say go for it. We really enjoy it here. Good Luck!

Default what is the downtown of SP like?

We might be moving to SP. What is the downtown like? Any natural food stores, quaint shops and restaurants? Is is a destination place or just a strip mall? How do you get to DC from there? public transportation?

To get to DC depends on where in SP you live. If you live close to RT 2 you would take RT to 50 and follow 50 straight in. If you live closer to 97 there are a few more options. I do not know what people consider downtown SP but there is a section over near the Safeway that has a few stores in it, I consider the area where Old Navy, Kohls, Bill Batemans, Squisitos area downtown. There is plenty of stuff you are looking for, we also have a community center and Annapolis is just 5 miles down the road. I love it here.

There is no "downtown" Severna Park. There might be a handful of quaint shops scattered here and there, but for the most part, it is a bedroom community with a few strip malls thrown in the mix. And it is nowhere near any public transportation, unless there is a bus route.

It is not a bad place at all, in fact it's quite nice. But I don't want anyone to have the impression that Severna Park a traditional town with a town center or downtown area.
