I am looking to avoid typical haunted houses, spook walks, and standard tours this Halloween.

I got a new camera and am looking for scenic areas to explore and photograph.

It was suggested that I go to Salem a weekend or so before Halloween because it will be decorated for the holiday and I can visit some historical sights.

However no one suggested any specific places.

I'm open to driving around or even walking to different places whether it be outdoor locations, museums, etc.

I am just trying to avoid the typical ghost tours and what not.

Any recommendations because that's all I've found so far. ^

Really just looking for places to capture the spirit of Halloween.

I love the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in RI too-charming, but crowded on weekends. It is a bit of a hike from Salem though.
