Polio vaccination has eliminated the disease in countries with abysmal hygiene.

The virus in oral polio vaccines can rarely revert to a form capable of causing paralysis. That is why the US does not use them. They are used in areas where polio is still endemic because they are easier to administer.
Here this gives another reason from a Michigan study.

https://www.insidescience.org/news/c...radicate-polio

The Michigan researchers, using huge amounts of health data from the 48 U.S. states that existed before the development of the Salk vaccine, concluded that the evidence doesn't support the theory. The expansion of the disease is nothing more than the result of a burgeoning population that grew particularly rapidly after World War II and the baby boom. More people was the problem, not more virus.

Your link still contradicts your claim that better hygiene was responsible for elimination of polio.

The article ignores the reality that the age at which polio was caught did increase when hygiene improved.

Or evidence that polio was seasonal and mostly in rural areas where they were spraying fruit or vegetables with pesticides like DDT, which was first used as Paris Green.

It really isn't much different than roundup causing cancer.

More evidence it was because of that instead of blaming an invisible virus we can't see or really explain. The book Dissolving Illusions will explain it, and other things they try and censor. I always ask, why do you need to censor if you evidence and facts are so good...oh money involved.

Polio is the disease poliomyelitis, which is caused by the poliovirus, which can be seen with electron microscopy. It is not invisible.

Polio was not mostly in rural areas and has nothing to do wit DDT or other pesticides.

The authors of Dissolving Illusions are anti-vax quacks.

It's easy to dismiss them as quacks, except that their influence on ignorant folks is resulting in a real resurgence in measles (for example) coming back in Florida!

I normally enjoy when thread discussions go a little off topic, the organic discussions are enjoyable. However this thread has gone way off topic for the Massachusetts forum and is simply going in circles.

A major part of any covid discussion involves the vaccine. Some people have very strong feelings about it. It shouldn't be surprising (or considered off topic) when comparisons are made to the polio vaccine.

Those two were antivax quacks before covid started. Ladapo, Florida's Surgeon General, is a quack, too, for not encouraging measles vaccination.
