OK. I started a new thread since I am in the thick of looking for a place to move to and am finding myself in a state of permanent sticker shock. I always knew I could not go back to Brookline after I sold my condo in 2018 but now I can't find anything I can afford in all of Massachusetts. No, I don't want to live in Worcester or Springfield or Pittsfield. I like the Amherst/Northampton area as well as Great Barrington but there is a dearth of places to buy there. I love the north shore but......

Anyway, fire away at all things 2022 in real estate....

Compared to (most?) of the country, Boston hasn't gone up that much since 2018. Of course it skyrocketed in the period before then.

Didn't you say you moved to Arizona? You should have doubled your money just from the hedge funds buying up real estate in the area. Brookline has been flat from that time period.

I'm just happy that I'm not in the market here in MA. Even if one has the money to compete, it's a stressful situation.

Yes. We moved to Arizona in 2018. It is true that my condo here has doubled in value due to all the investors gobbling up condos to turn into AirBnB's. In my condo complex of over 250 units more than half of them are now vacation rentals. Which is one of the things that makes it so hard to stay here.

That and just being so darn homesick. Some days I just feel so heartbroken, that I will never be able to go back.

Why didn't you keep the condo in Brookline and rent it out? I thought AZ was dirt cheap back then.

Good question. Why didn't we? Too many regrets to count.

Could just live in Springfield and go to Northampton it's not that far. You could also live in East Hampton which again isn't that far from Northampton and Amherst South Hadley is also another possibility. I think it depends about how much access you want the public transit
