Usually this is the time of year i start prepping to overseed my lawn to try and fill in the areas that didn't make it this summer and thinned out due to the heat/sun/drought.

Not this year. I don't have a single bare patch. Bought a small bag for some thin areas but that's about it. I think we are gong to get some consistent rain next week so maybe i'll get the seed down this weekend.

Same here. I have stuff ready, but not much of a need. There are a few barren patches where I had to rip out crabgrass clumps, but that's about it. I think I've actually watered the lawn 3 times in total this year (including earlier in spring when I was making some minor amendments). It's definitely time for my every 5th day mow, though.

Same. I have the mower on the highest setting and need to side discharge. Even that creates that unsightly "hay" on the top of the grass. I've gotten into the habit of a follow up mow a day or two later to mulch that in.

I'd bag but i have nowhere to dump it.

Neighbors and I actually share advice and equipment to maintain our lawns. I don't have a fence with my neighbor to the left so we share a grassy area and work together to keep it looking great.

It's only fair that I point out that my yard is NOT large. I live in a neighborhood where the plots are all fairly small, so it's not some exurban pasture I have to maintain. That said, seems like only my 2 closest neighbors and I take care of our yards - everyone else pays landscapers.

Paying landscapers is good too as long as it's maintained I just don't like messy, unkempt, overgrown, dilapitated properties especially when I have to live nextdoor to them! It's just crazy to me why some people even bother buying a house knowing they aren't the type to do yard work or want to pay someone else to do it....they make condos for people like that!

I enjoy the work, to an extent. If I had a large property, or just a ton of money and needed more free time I'd hire a crew to take care of it for sure. There are a few unkempt properties in my neighborhood, but luckily nowhere near my house. A guy I frequently run into while walking the dog has one of those neighbors next to him and he's resigned himself to the fact that it's basically always going to be an eyesore on one side of his house.

That's kind of the situation I'm in unless these people sell or I sell and move. I'm hoping they'll be selling within the next year as I suspect divorce is on the horizon .....haven't seen the husband around in about 3 months so either she kicked him out or he left her?! Either that or maybe foreclosure will be happening?
