They weren't asking about those towns though. They asked about schools on the south shore. Not everyone wants to live in the metrowest/middlesex towns.

Right, especially if wifey wanted a W town in the first place but hubby's job isn't close enough

LOL these threads always give me a chuckle. It's like people want to be told what they already know. Yes, Hingham is where it's at...that is the top, must have $1M plus budget town in the s. shore.

I think I mentioned in a previous thread that I would tell people with a 1.5M budget to look at Westwood (since it's posh now) and dedham.

But yes...i sometimes wonder why someone with a 1.8M budget feel the need to ask an anonymous forum where they should live.

I don’t care what town we live in based on name.

I just want a good public school and town that has a community feel. The town I grew up in had nothing going on and I don’t want that for my kids. That’s why I want to know more about pembroke. The house in pembroke is under our budget which I also like. Do people who live there like the town? Is there good town rec/programming? I now know the schools are considered avg so maybe that would be a reason we choose not to live there.

I’m asking because I am not from this area and don’t know anything expect that people think some towns are better than others and I don’t really know why. I think my realtor is biased so i wanted other peoples opinions.

I'd say Plymouth. They have beaches, ponds, an active waterfront, parades. Schools are not terrible and if needed you can send them to private school as you will likely be able to find a suitable house well under budget.
