I am going to Salem for halloween but the hotels and airbnb's are a bit much. Has anyone taken the t into it, the ferry shuttle doesn't go back past 830 so that is impractical.

I have a few options.

If I stay on a hotel in the south shore and take the train in the morning (I know north and south station are not connected)....but he schedule isn't open yet Or I can take amtrak up to salem which is ok but it's just getting to be fewer options
