Hi, all! My husband and I are first-time homebuyers and one of the places high on our list is Concord. We've noticed that every time we visit the Concord library and go to the outdoor area with our son, there's airplane noise every few minutes from Hanscom Field. I'm from a big city, so the noise doesn't bother me as much, but my husband grew up in a quiet suburb and I know it would really drive him up the wall if he was constantly hearing planes while trying to relax in our backyard. How big an issue is the airplane noise around Concord? Are there certain neighborhoods where it's not a problem or do the various flight paths mean that you can hear it pretty much anywhere in Concord? Thanks SO much--I appreciate the help!
It's very dependent on weather. I'm in Burlington in the corner by the Billerica and Wilmington lines and we sometimes get aircraft noise from Hanscom operations.
Google 'Groton Ayer Buzz' for where the planes go after they leave Hanscom.
They don't bother me in Ayer but they are doing turns and stalls and maneuvers rather than take off and landing.
We also get Logan flight path noise - it's noticeably worse in Acton, I'd imagine Concord gets loud.

I work under the flight path of one of Hanscom's runways. I rarely pay attention or hear the airplanes and that's probably from years of growing up in Revere in the 80's and 90's when commercial jets were VERY loud. These days they are much quieter. Really I guess it all depends on what you are used to.
Really, the only time i notice the noise is when it's something unique like a fighter jet, which doesn't happen much. Other than that, the business jets and 737's just kinda blend into the surroundings.
