In return, we get about 2-4 eggs/day, or about 7 dozen/month. We end up giving away about 2/3 of our eggs. Probably we could be selling them and recoup some costs but that gets complicated and there may be permits and licensing issues to deal with. Easier to just enjoy delicious eggs and be popular among our friends and neighbors.

By the way, the best storebought eggs will not match up to fresh laid eggs. Our eggs pile up and we eat the oldest first, so they could be 3 weeks old, yet are still better, unless you're getting your eggs from a farm stand.
Too many eggs isn't good for cholesterol levels! How many eggs do you all consume/month? I eat scrambled eggs maybe once a month and pay the $2.99 for a 6 egg carton of organic Pete & Jerry's.

I thought the latest was that eggs don’t cause high cholesterol?

I probably eat one or two eggs a day. None today. On average, more than I used to before we had chickens.

There are way worse foods than eggs, imo.

I think the egg whites are really good for you. The yolk is what contributes to the cholesterol issue.

Who cares about what other people eat? My grandparents lived until their mid 90s and ate eggs all the time.

I don't care what other people eat. The discussion was about eggs. Eggs are known to be high in cholesterol. If you are predisposed to or already have a cholesterol problem...eggs (at least w/the yolk) are probably not the best choice.
