Sorry, can't help you with Maui, but if you get to Hilo, Cafe 100 claims to be the originator of the loco moco. They have about a dozen different kinds although it's pretty hard to beat the corn beef loco at Grandma's Kitchen in Honokaa. IMHO, of course.

Then there's always the search for the perfect manapua and malasadas, too!

I don't think Maui has one of those Lava Lava Beach Clubs but the Loco Moco I had on the Big Island from this place was AMAZING....

So far, tried Da Kitchen and both times were really good! Tried is at Kula Bistro teamster day and it was pretty good as well. Ordered it before at Slappy cakes and was underwhelmed. I'd like to try Joeys kitchen next.
