To be honest I haven't watched CNN for a long time.
Even I got sick of the constant Trump talk.
That and Wolf Blitzer and his high pitched *breaking news* from 'the situation room'.
That's what I read the new news chief said. I can only hope it's true. I think the biggest mistake media made was giving audience to his crazy.
ok, i found it.

Chris Licht, CNN’s new top boss, said the network will not cover former President Trump as much as it did during his first run for president in 2016 and his four years in the White House.

This - on steroids. Trump was made by the MSM. Had they largely ignored the loser in 2016 (giving his Russian helpers air time), he would have never have been president.
Not since Chris Licht screwed it into the ground. He tried to make it all things to all people, and pissed both sides off equally.
I don't know that Licht is the villain here. Licht was a very talented producer at CBS who quickly rose through the ranks. Besides having good skills as an executive he also has a pretty good pulse on what make for a good news story. That went all out the window when he accepted the job at CNN from David Zaslav. Zaslav was the guy that made the AT&T - Discovery merger happen. Since that time he's pretty much gutted HBO Max in terms of producing original content and also did a number on Warner (Bros.) as well. Those cutbacks at CNN have very little to do with ratings and a whole lot to do with squeezing the last penny out of an asset.
Not all of this was the brainchild (or evil spawn) of Zaslav, he's pretty much a lapdog of John Malone, emperor of Liberty Media (that also includes owning F1 automobile racing. Too be clear Liberty is not a sponsor, it owns the entire thing) and has for years been a huge, huge GOP conservative.
All this is to say even though Licht might be chairman and CEO of CNN, he's answering to a lot of people whose ambition is to forward a conservative agenda. Give it a few years and all the folks complaining about CNN being a lefty news org will have their noses deeply up CNN's fanny and calling it the best thing ever. (if the new suits don't tank the entire organization by then)
