Thank god for technology.

Google map will give you street directions for cities in Mexico. They will also give you directions from a city in the USA to a city in Mexico. For example if you enter Phoenix AZ to mexico city in the search it will give you the directions, time of travel and the distance. It also has the street level for streets in mexico. The street level option has been available for a couple months now, but the directions is brand new. Mexico with the help of a USA company like Google is going to be the most advance technology country in Latin America.

I've been using Street View for awhile, certainly more than a few months. I didn't know about the directions though. Thx.

What I have been using for directions and distances *within* Mexico is a Mexican govt site Point to Point. One advantage it has is it will give you the cuotas.

There are certain roads that Google will refuse to route you on. Such as the Espina from Durango to Mazatlan, and even the shortcut from Monclova to Torreon. They will route you the long way around, and if you try to drag your route onto the shortcut, it refuses to lock in. However, Mapquest also offers virtually the same kinds of directions, and will let you choose whatever route you want.

Does it also include time for all the ridiculous checkpoints in Mexico? What about potential armed robbery on the highway through Sinaloa? All these are factors that google maps leaves out and could potentially extend the length of your trip.

=,..... sometimes you have to laugh at the ugly reality of our country or you will get on your knees and cry.
