Mexico is a beautiful country........but it has changed immensely, and has become very dangerous, specially for non-Mexican tourists......

Changed since when? You make it sound like this kind of stuff just all started.

I agree with the others, there had to be something more to the story. There are probably close to 2 million Americans living in the country at least part of the year. If random violence against tourists was such a common thing there would be hundreds or thousands of situations like this.

Statistically you're far more likely to die of drowning as a tourist in Mexico than homicide.
