Just wondering what is the live music scene in Michigan ( I mean in Lansing, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, An Arbor and anywhere else). I do not mind driving couple of hours for some good live music. Any suggestion?? No that crazy metal type thing, more of a slow rock, blues, country type of stuff...

I can speak to the Blues: Lansing, Detroit, G Rapids, Kalamazoo have it. Country and pop beat it in popularity overall, but a good blues band (headliner) is fun.
Don't know where you are.

Forgot - go to a live recording session at Callahan's for an upbeat experience. Top-rated artists like Jimmy Thackery and others often record live CDs there.

In the summers GR bars often have many blues and jazz improv nights scattered throughout the downtown area.... Some nights it's good, other nights it's tedious at best.

In Lansing, the Green Door is the big place to go for blues. There are also annual blues and jazz festivals.

By the way, has anyone seen this guy?

Haven't heard the name before but it rhymes with "Southside Denny" out of Chicago who gigs here in west MI occasionally (not the same because Denny is mostly electric slide). Being near Chgo, we get a lot of their artists in performance from Kzo to Benton Harbor to Grand Rapids. Here is Lenny doing a classic made popular by the second guy, ZZ Hill, and search "down home blues" for many hits on this standard tune.

Whether or not a blues tune is boring depends upon the performer & arrangement.

Here are some places for live music in Grand Rapids & Kzoo.
Live Music | Founders Brewing Company (http://www.foundersbrewing.com/events/live-music - broken link)
The Intersection | Live Music Club Rockin' Grand Rapids, MI
Billy's Lounge Grand Rapids, MI
Kalamazoo State Theatre - West Michigan's Premier Live Concert Venue
Welcome to the Orbit Room
These are places that book headliners and national acts, but there are plenty more smaller venues too numerous to mention. The better acts will obviously play here, but maybe you are more concerned with local acts?

BOOGIE STOMP is an exciting show going on this week at Stormfield Theater in Lansing, MI. Bob Baldori and Arthur Migliazza go head to head for a dueling boogie woogie piano experience that is really worth the price of admission ($25). No joke, these guys are awesome. The real deal. Thursday 7pm, Friday and Saturday 8pm, Sunday 2pm. You should go if you're around.
