Completely serious. What part do you disagree with? And for what it's worth I graduated first in my class in high school, went on to college to the Master's level, and currently work as a systems engineer. I've got 3 nephews in elementary and middle school and am not impressed with the current educational system. Lots of money going in with little to show for it.

Perhaps you've mis understood what I meant by critical thought. Campaigns havebeen won by celebrity peronalities because of the lack of critical thought, not political thought. A student that does not know how to read by the second grade has been "abused by the system". The "basics" are completed by the fifth grade and instead of teaching to pass a test, one should be taught the different disciplines of learning. ie: The scientific method is a different intellect than fine arts. Yet, one who participates in the creative learning in fine arts will do better in other liberal arts. That's not my word, it's a fact proven through the scientific method.
I'm not saying we disagree, becuase I don't believe we are. My arguement is fueled by the FACT that this country nor any other country can not stand let alone be the leader, if we allow the dumbing down, non-insentive, unrewarding and loser attitude which limits the creativity of this Nation.
Teachers are uniquely in the position to train, motivate and even lead the leaders and thinkers of tomorrow. Instead of "bottom dwellers" Teaching should be one of the highest paid and most competitve positions that can be aspired to. A community, a nation and it's people are measured and perhaps even compensated according to where their passions are focused. At present we are a consumer nation consumed by and even passionate about the "FEED ME" mentality and the steal, kill and destroy philosophy verses the creative, encouraging, build a better world thought.
Cordially,
Passion2serve

Believe the unemployment (Michigan Works) people use to have a retraining program. My eldestdaughter was enrolled and attending classes at Schoolcraft Communiuty College until she stumbled onto the para-legal position.

Start with the Michigan Works or Talent Bank..
