With no real action being taken against them and the media seeing nothing going on, it became a nothing event. Now imagine the attention and support the protesters would have received from other protesters, the media frenzy that would have followed, and the potential prolonging of the event had the military and civilian authorities responded with some force. If you ignore them and not give them the attention they want, they will go away.
What if they block both or ALL entrances? Then what?

Our national security is not to be messed with. Period!

Block the road and you will get run over should be the policy. Protest all day everyday from the side of the road.

Power of china and russia to fund these protest just like they did with BLM. If I were the police, I would have them all arrested and charged with espionage and see exactly who their sponsors are. This is a form of domestic terrorism.

But they come back and they come back with more. The USAF has had decades of experience with protesters especially at nuclear sites. The one thing they learned was that the "Tarzambo" reaction just leads to more and more problems. Sure everyone wants to do the Big Bad Gorilla chest beating macho big dick stupidity act, but in the end, ignore works the best.

This event was very short lived by protest standards, there was no "force" reaction, there was little media attention when it appeared the military was ignoring it, the minor inconvenience was short lived. Things got back to normal after a few hours and it's unlikely it will occur again at that base.

How many protest like this have occurred at military bases throughout the US recently? Probably a dozen or more, but we don't hear about most simply because of the adopting of the "don't react - just ignore" policy. Now, my comments are limited to the tactics of the military's response to these events at bases, not anything to do with what is happening elsewhere in other venues.

Protesting at a military base which is out in the boonies is hardly the same as protesting at a university with many thousands of students.

For one thing, the protestors are not likely to be able to set foot inside the gates of a military base, but on a college campus they have access to practically every square inch of the campus. And if they don't have easy access to everything, they simply break some window or door and walk right in. BIG difference.

I'm just gonna say two things here.

Firstly, Hamas started this whole thing and knew what the result would be, both for the Israelis and their own people. They're the cause of all of this and I'd be happy if they were wiped off the face of the earth. And remember, there's a huge difference between a Hamas sympathizer and someone opposed to what the Israelis are doing. One isn't necessarily the other.

Secondly, I'm wondering how many people are upset because they're blocked by pro-Palestinian protestors but think it's just fine that people can protest in front of Planned Parenthoods and abortion clinics, and hamper the people trying to get in to the point where the clinics have to have escorts for their patients. Believe it or not, I've seen more than one name here on CD opposing the pro-Palestinian protestors but cheer on the pro-life groups in other threads.

And I'm as surprised as anyone else that the protestors weren't removed by the military. I've seen the cops form a line and clear out a small town of hooligans, so why the military couldn't do that, I don't know.

And our "military" better damn well use the proper pronouns when addressing the mostly peaceful protesters.

Well yeah, in conversation people will generally want to use the proper pronouns that the person they are talking to prefers. That's kind of a basic part of being civil in public. So no worry there; people in the military are in fact expected to follow that kind of standard.
