Mohammad wong, WOW. Nice post!

Thank you for sharing. I spend so much time between both cities. Being born and raised in Milwaukee, I appreciate when people can give me my "Chicago fix" when I hear them mention the streets, the neighborhoods, etc.

I was just there on Sunday. I parked my car in Bucktown, and then took out my bicycle and biked through Wicker Park and Pilsen, and then sat outside on the sidewalk and ate at Ignotz in the heart of Chicago neighborhood.

So what are your favorite neighborhoods there?

It's so hard to pick a favorite neighborhoods. I prefer the Lakeshore neighborhoods because they have a more stately and established feel, which I like. I've lived all over the north and parts of the west sides of Chicago.

I want to Like Logan Square but it's too decentralized for me. It lack cohesion and it's not close to the lake.

Bucktown would be a perfect neighborhood if it were closer to the Lake.

I'd say my personal ranking would be:

Old Town
Lakeview / Lincoln Park (to me, they are one neighborhood)
Bucktown
Andersonville
Near West Side (Noble Square / West Loop / River West)
Logan Square
Pilsen

All of the above are great in their own ways.

For Milwaukee, I love Riverwest. Not too fond of anything on the West or North Side.

Third Ward is great as an urban playground, not so much for living.

Lower East Side / Brady area has it's obvious charms and is a favorite as well.

Basically anything within 1 mile of the Lakeshore in Milwaukee is phenomenal and would be the envy of most other cities. Even Chicago cannot boast that claim since many of our Lakeshore neighborhoods kind of stink.

Mohammad wong, good morning.

The Lakeshore neighborhoods in both Chicago and neighborhood are nice in that we share Lake Michigan. Although Chicago's coastline obviously runs longer and has MUCH more fun activities to do on the beaches. Milwaukee has easier parking, I would say.

Well, you definitely like your neighborhoods close to the lake in Chicago!... As someone who likes to travel in between the 2 cities, I would say that I tend to lean to the far north side neighborhoods. They seem to be clean, with more space, and safe. And I like to be able to stop after an already longish drive. So for me, I enjoy neighborhoods like Edison Park, Norwood Park and Lincoln Square.

Interesting that you only picked 1 south side Chicago neighborhood in your list. That said, Pilsen does have some great food, as well as street fests.

Your love of the lakefront is evident in the neighborhoods you like in Milwaukee, as well as in Chicago.... As a Milwaukeean that rarely spends free time in Milwaukee, the closest I might have these days is Bay View.

I grew up on the north side, on N. 60th Street, near the Milwaukee/Wauwatosa border. My roots are there, so my heart will always be there. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is not as great as it was when I was growing up.
