These are fair policy critiques. Traitorous?

That lasted a couple of years then they stopped it but grandfathered us in. Don’t know what the ruling is right now. But thank God for that escape!
I didn't know Minneapolis did this with residency requirements for employees.

Minneapolis has no such requirement. Since 1999, Minnesota law does not permit cities or counties to impose a residency requirement except in some very narrow circumstances.

Shoreview did it as well as late as 2004. But as I said I wasn’t aware of when Minneapolis stopped requiring residency. All I knew was we could leave and we did. The word around the city was that the heads of certain departments wanted to leave the city so it was actually they who changed the rule for their own purposes. “Some animals are more equal than others”. I could tell you those exact names but for now cooler heads will prevail.

Residency laws were prohibited under state law in 1999. It sounds like it took a while for some cities to get the message. There is a push by social justices types in Minneapolis to allow them again since only about five percent of Minneapolis police officers live in the city, though that’s probably a cost and schools issue more than anything.

It really isn't that liberal compared to cities like Portland and Seattle. Minneapolis is chiefly "Midwest liberal", just like Madison. Both Minneapolis and Madison are very liberal, don't get me wrong, but they are a little more moderate than any of the coastal cities.

Also, the suburbs are pretty darn blue, too. They used to be a lot more Republican. It's funny how a lot of conservatives think that people who live on government assistance tend to vote Democrat, yet some of the reddest rural parts of the state are not only poor, but some of the richest suburbs in the TC metro bleed blue, such as Minnetonka, Plymouth, Eden Prairie, and Edina. Here is the 2018 governor election results map by municipality and ward:

My brother is a cop and lives about 4 cities away from where he works. Has always told me he'll never live in the city he works as he doesn't want the terrible people he deals with non stop knowing where he and his family live. 90+% of his staff do the same. The larger suburb he works is a nice city too.
