I am thinking about moving to Minnesota and am looking for a place that is quiet. Here in Florida it is normal for people to set off real, professional (read bomb-like) fireworks in neighborhoods and apartment complexes for the 4th of July and New Years. It honestly sounds like a war zone and the only way to (possibly) escape it is to live in an HOA. This was also the case in Houston, TX.

My Grandmother is also seeing this more and more in Iowa, so it's not just a southern thing. Bomb-like fireworks are illegal in all of these places but it doesn't stop anyone.

What is it like in Minnesota? Do people follow firework laws? Is it hard to find a quiet place? I understand it probably depends on the specific location, so I would really appreciate it if you could say what your experience has been in your part of Minnesota. My goal is to have a little hobby farm and raise chickens and ducks.

It's exactly the same here.

Maine has hundreds of freshwater lakes. I am sure there are many hundreds of miles of lake shoreline. Where a person could settle.

It's the 4th of July – it's a national holiday. That's what people do everywhere, illegal or not.

If you buy a hobby farm, you’ll be more rural, more rural means less neighbors, less neighbors means less fireworks. It gets very cold here in winters.
