Google up "Christmas Parade cancelled" and you will find a plethora of parades all over the country canceled because of the threat of violence. But ABC only talks about one - in Republican led Mississippi. They don't mention the size of the town.

Violent crime seems to be going up basically everywhere. I could mention the "why" but people would get pissed off and tell me to take it to the political forum.

Helena-West Helena, Arkansas Dec 7 2021: https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/...istmas-parade/

Crawford, Mississippi Dec 19, 2021: see citation in OP

There were 2 or 3 articles referencing the November, 2021 Waukesha, WI Christmas parade incident where the SUV drove into the crowd which killed 5.

All the other references were to parades in 2021 canceled for covid or, more commonly, severe weather.

Do you use a "special" Google search engine only available to southerners denying facts that they don't like?

None of the Christmas parades -- or other events -- anywhere in New York were canceled in 2021 because of violence although there might have been some event cancellations because of covid or the weather. Some NHL teams -- Rangers, Islanders, Sabres, Devils -- may have had games around Christmas postponed because covid.
OOPS! My bad!

I accidentally typed in "New York schools closed due to threat of violence" by mistake. There were several pages of results and I guess I got confused.

The poverty of Mississippi combined with it's lax gun laws are a recipe for disaster.

It's not poverty and gun laws that makes a state dangerous. West Virginia isnalso poor and has loose gun laws yet it's ranked as one of the safer states. Therefore it's something completely different.

Most Diverse States

Safest States

And a simple wikipedia search shows that Crawford is a predominantly Democrat town, with a 89% black population which usually translates to Democrats. People always like to point to Mississippi and Louisiana stats, but on the state level all the areas doing the worst statistically whether its crime, health conditions, education, infant mortality, unemployment etc are all Democrat areas. Jackson, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport are all Democrat on the local level.

Comparing these two maps, it appears that the least diverse (mostly white) states are also the safest states with poverty or wealth!

Who would have guessed that???

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and speculate that adding Asians to these states wouldn't change the safety numbers.
