Why is Silva still fighting? I think it's less complicated than you think.

He probably needs the money. He most likely has blown (or had pilfered from him by hanger ons and money "managers") most of what he's earned. He doesn't have another occupation to fall back on.

I doubt it's now due to the love of the sport now that he's getting his ass kicked often.

so this makes the UFC look bad since Dana White isn't paying his fighters enough.

Pretty sure I read that his net worth is $18 million. He recently opened a gym in Los Angeles called Spider Kick where he trains people privately. On his website he shows 1-on-1 training sessions with different celebrities.

His showing against Adesanya was impressive, so I don't think you're necessarily speaking from knowledge here. Sometimes it truly is for love of the game.

It's pure speculation on my part. Who knows if his actual net worth is $ 18 million. Odds are pretty high that figure could be entirely fabricated as well.

What we all know is that the % of professional athletes who've blown all their earnings is through the roof.

Because he is young. He is only 45 years old. All MMA fighters in excellent shape should retire professionally in their 60's, but continue fighting as amateurs if the like it.
