.............Just happened to remember, several months ago, you asked for some info re Rattlesnakes and protection for your bird dog.

Did you get the dog vaccinated and did you get a chance to do any "bird-hunting"?

What breed dog?

How do you like the Bozeman/Belgrade area?.....and how does the weather compare to where ever you came from?

As I remember you did quite a bit of research on various areas that were on your "short-list". Evidentally your research on Bozeman proved to be worth while and satisfied most of your creiteria(sp)?

Just for kicks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you ought to keep track of how many nights it drops below zero this winter. .......

Have a good one......................................

Hey Griz! Thanks for the follow-up.

Yes, we are settled and at home in Bozeman. We did get the dog vaccinated and have the number for both the vet and the emergency vets on call as well. We have hiked several trails so far and spent plenty of time vicinity Big Sky, Spanish Peaks, Hyalite Canyon, and the Bridgers to include Sacajawea and Hardscrabble.

I was not able to swing any hunting as I just arrived to join my wife a few weeks ago and need some time to do a little more study on the "where's". Wifey has been here since late July. Our dog is a Rhodesian Ridgeback that I have trained on birds. That breed are bred to hunt and are actually pretty damn good on upland game. Not sure if we will get out this year though. She does flush the quail in the sawgrass field next to our house though!!!

Our last home was in Iowa and having grown up there the first 18 years of life, I can take about any winter....maybe aside from the high line area, LOL! Iowa winters are cold, crappy, humid (heavy, thick, icy crap), and well below zero wind chills as well. I know 2 folks who grew up in Belgrade and Absorokee respectively and they both hate the Iowa winters more than Montana. Sinus and allergies as well!

We settled on Bozeman for various reasons, but it came down to the college (MSU). Helena is great as was Kalispell/Whitefish. We liked Great Falls too! Having put ourselves in a position to live anywhere we want, Montana offers everything we need without compromise. It has been a great ride and it feels like "home".

Now to find some folks who elk hunt and fish for walleyes and I will be set.

Thanks Griz....I'll track the below zero days!
