I recently saw an ad for a house on the lake and the broker noted: Buyer needs to inquire about high speed internet. This was a nice house, on the lake.....not a rustic cabin with an outhouse type deal.

Is internet an issue up there?

Internet is an issue all over the state. For instance, in the Helena area, you can have one neighborhood with cable internet available, and then another right beside it that doesn't have cable internet. In some areas, half of the road will have it, and it will just stop. I have a friend whose first home was on a street where half way down the road the cable internet just stopped. He called the provider, who said that they didn't have any plans to expand the service anytime soon. He eventually just sold the home. You need to get the address, and then contact the local service providers to find out if there is service at that location.

If not, you will be waiting with the rest of us for Elon Musk to get his satellite internet company going.

What is high speed or enough speed for you? In rural areas, the carriers definition of "high speed" probably isn't yours if you currently live in a bigger city.

It seems to be hit and miss like most rural areas of the country. My place recently had Fiber DSL installed to the area and we are getting 40Mbps DL where before it was using a cell as a hotspot if you were lucky. If not it was dialup speeds. Some places in the area have zero options.

There are always satellite options, and speed is the service you select, and can be very high speed, and is available in Flathead Lake and nearly anywhere in rural areas.
