So I have an '08 Native Watercraft Manta Ray that is dying to get out on freshwater (along with its owner). Just put a 16sqm V sail on it and been having a blast just sailing the thing around in the ocean, but soon it will be time to get back to business. When's fishing season open and do you have to use barbless hooks? Looks like it's going to be Flathead Valley 'cause I want to go back to school at FVCC for surveying, so any info on flatwater fishing or rivers class II or less in that area would be helpful and greatly appreciated. I know there are multiple and lengthy canoe runs in Montana and generally speaking if you can get a canoe down it, a sea kayak will run it fine. I have a whitewater IK as well. Really looking to get my foot in the door with the kayaking community up there and door is always open to a new fishing buddy. Thanks.

You should talk to Rickers. I've done a little bit, (know just enough to be dangerous) but I think he's a pro.

Welcome to the Flathead! Rickers is the man you want to hook up with, he knows just about everything there's to know about that particular subject (and many more just ask him) and I'm sure will be happy to find another person to discuss it with.
Anyway, welcome to my neck of the woods though you are picking close to the worse time to move here weather wise!
