There is nothing wrong with managing wildlife. All animals have a right to exist and live the way they do, but wolves and grizzlies taking livestock is not what they were intended to do. Livestock are easy targets. If wolves and grizzlies see, and are allowed to take livestock, especially the younger generation, they lose their skills and are unable to pass them along to their own offspring. This leads to further livestock predation and even attacks on people.

Animals, especially apex predators live wolves and grizzlies, have to be kept in check, even if it means allowing certain numbers to be culled. Culling the overstock is far more humane than seeing them starve to death on the open range or attack livestock or even humans. Too many and there is not enough food to go around.

Hey faro45................ Oh it's quite easy.........., You simply position the "cross-hairs" approx 1" behind the shoulder and GENTLY squeeze the trigger. A 175 gr Nosler Partition out of a 7mm Mag does a nice job.

See ya!!!!!!!

Not trying to highjack, this is kind of related. Was in the paper today. A federal judge put the Grizzleys back on the endangered Species list. Will the wolf be next?

Darn tree huggers said the Grizz was causing trouble cause it wasn't getting it's white cedar nuts or something. Have to go back to the paper. I get it online so it's not just setting here.

Anybody else see that?

If there was no control on the shooting of wolves, you still would not harm the population, any more than the coyote population is hurt. Once wolves get wised up a bit, they will be anything but an easy target.
I had some friends just come out of the Bob Marshall wilderness, after a week stay. They saw no elk at all, and heard wolves 24/7.
Wolves are a target of opportunity. Licenses come 20 to the box.

people who kill wolves are stupid. they are a beautiful creature....... can't they see this?? i think it is cruel to kill animals just because of it's number. I know they need to be managed in some areas but that shouldn’t mean murder in the wolf society. I suggest that they just attempt to persuade them to travel to another place. There are already many species of wolf that are already extinct.

Great. Didn't we already "manage" them almost to the point of extinction? Same with the bison. Maybe wild animals should be left alone, and we need to learn how to co-exist with them. Wolves were here before cattle ranchers.

It's all about compromise and responsible management. It is possible to coexist with wolves. Although it is not perfect, Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho should look at how some countries have coexisted with wolves. Romania for example, has at least 2,000 wolves and is smaller than the state of Oregon. Although they have problems (since no place is going to have none), they have managed to coexist. Minnesota is also home to many more wolves than the Northern Rockies and yet there still are plenty of deer in that state. I know these places are not the same, but it is still worth a look.
