I know for the mose part remakes are not as good as the originals, but what are some of your favorites? Mine are (in no particular order):

All along the watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
She's not there - Santana
Man who sold the world - Nirvana
Sweet surrender - Sarah McLachlan

Rod Stewart -- "I Know I'm Losing You"
Smith -- "Baby It's You" (heard that on Sirius this morning)
R.E.M. -- "Superman"
Credence Clearwater Revival "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" and "I Put A Spell On You"
Soft Cell -- "Tainted Love"
Calexico -- "Alone Again Or"
Talkinig Heads -- "Take Me To The River"
Tom Jones -- "Kiss"
Camper Van Beethoven -- "Pictures of Matchstick Men"
Roxy Music -- "Like a Hurricane"
Rolling Stones -- they have so many, but "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" rocks!

Anything Dread Zeppelin or Bronson Arroyo do.

For these I actually like the cover more than the original!!!

"I Swear" - All 4 One (original by John Michael Montgomery)

"Walking In Memphis" - Lonestar

"Life is a Highway" - Rascal Flatts

"Inside Your Heaven" - Carrie Underwood

Usually if the cover is a country version and the original isn't, I'll like the cover better with the exception of I Swear. Also the original for "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson is better than the new one by Reba McEntire.

My favorite music is country-pop, the kind of country that leans pop. Its better than normal pop or stuff that is traditional country.

I enjoy punk rock remakes. Any song...well, almost any can sound even better than the original Hee hee!

In that vein, one of my faves is "To Have or To Have Not" by Lars Fredriksen, originally done by Billy Bragg

I enjoy The Twistin' Tarantulas' version of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades"--hee hee!

Johnny Cash did some brilliant remakes before he died. I like his version of "Hurt" originally done by Trent Reznor.
