Probably depends on everyones age. I'm in my mid-40s and I'll take the 1970s any day. The post Woodstock rock along with the progessive rock movement was unbeatable for me. Even some of the disco/funk soul band type stuff was great (Earth Wind and Fire, Commadores, Bee Gees). There were plenty of stinkers as well, but overall I'll take the 70s.
I'll go with '60's as the Brirish Invasion completely changed things. The garage band and the psych movements were important as well. But I LOVE, the '70's,'80's, and most of the '90's as well.
For ten good years I would take 1965 - 1975, which covers most of the British invasion through the best of the early prog era. Choosing one decade alone, It's gotta be the 60s with a very honorable mention for the 40s.
