Thx HH ....I forgot about The Moody Blues .....

They had a big album in 1968 ..."In Search of the Lost Chord"

My fav songs are..

The Actor
Ride My See Saw
The Best Way To Travel

Oh yeah also forgot about Bob Seger....

Ramblin' Gamblin' Man
2 + 2 = ?

Both those tunes have a real intensity that only Bob seger can bring

There's alot more lesser known 1968 songs that are good too (what a year! ...for music ....cars ...movies ..TV ....everything)

Without duplicating anything from the above posts:

1963 - Be My Baby - Ronettes
1964 - Oh, Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison
1964 - You Really Got Me - Kinks
1964 - Because - Dave Clark Five
1965 - My Girl - Temptations
1966 - Bob Dylan - I Want You
1966 - Walk Away Renee - Left Banke
1966 - Tomorrow Never Knows - Beatles
1967 - I Can See For Miles - The Who
1967 - Sunshine Of Your Love - Cream
1969 - Hot Fun In The Summertime - Sly And The Family Stone

Can't believe I left out The Turtles, Rolling Stones, CCR, Shirelles, Monkees, Lovin' Spoonful, Byrds, Beach Boys, Association and 4 Seasons - I'll try to get to them later.

The 60s were as good as it ever got for pop songs in my book. DOUBLE H is soooo right about 1968 being such a fantastic year - as witnessed above in LRUA's stunning list.

Isn't just safe to say that the 60s produced the greatest music of all time? Seems easier then listing all the songs.

Hard to find anyone that would even argue it anyway. If they try they are wrong.

The 70s were a very very close second best.
