Pretty and Pink....that's funny because all this talk about the 80's got me and my hubby in a conversation yesterday......I told him I wanted to get Netflix so I can rent my 80's movies anytime I want! LOL! We started talking about Molly Ringwald and Mary Stuart Masterson and the whole bunch from back then. I found out my hubby has NEVER seen The Breakfast Club the whole way through...*gasp*! I said, "that's the first movie we'll get then!"

Hey, throw some rep points my way too *sniffle*.....lol.
I'll hit you up too!!!!!!!
Your husbands NEVER see Breakfast Club all the way through !!!!
You need to trade him in on a new one !!!! HA Ha j/K

I guess a lot of people think that stuff is corny at our old age
so I think you have to have actually experienced it in the 80's
to appreciate the cool statement Hughs was making with all
of those films.....Male or Female, doesnt matter...everyone
at some point in thier lives knew or was a Hughs character !!
Thats why they are so timeless.....and the soundtracks !!
WOW...I saw the Psychadelic furs at the Latin Casino in
Jersey when those movies where coming out, so them, and
a few other bands I will always associate with these great films !!

Simple Minds "Dont you Forget about me".....they are STILL playing that at
Proms all over the US. Great stuff !!

Did any of you read my prediction/sequel to the Breakfast club? Go check it out.

Here's another one, The Filth & the Fury .. it's better than Swindle, in my opinion.

I watched the Nomi Song on Sundance or IFC and ended up buying the DVD because my kids LOVE HIM!!! In fact, every once in awhile, my 5 year old tells me that she wants to dress up like Klaus for Halloween. But I'm ashamed to say that I have yet to buy "The Essential Klaus Nomi" CD .. not available on Itunes (grrrr). Klaus reminds me of Jimmy Sommerville .. another 80's icon .. love Bronski Beat and the Communards.

Thanks for saying I'm a Kool Mom.

I'm a gracefully aging New Waver. Heavily into Roxy Music, Talking Heads, the Clash, the Police, and the first time I heard R.E.M.'s Chronic Town EP I was hooked.

And now I've turned into one of those people I hated back then -- the ones who insisted that no good music had been made since John Bonham died -- because pretty much all I listen to is alternative stuff from the 80s or the pre-Nirvana 90s (or the 60s, but that's fodder for another thread!).

I still have some of my neon clothes from back then, although my hot pink Keds have long since bitten the dust. *sigh*

Im not a Nirvana fan at all !!
I could go on but I wont for the sake of everyone who
reads this !

I think hippies and punx have a lot more in common
than they would like to admit. They both use music
and culture to rebel against the omni-present "MaN"
holding them down. After thier misguided yoof starts to
get a little guidance, they trade thier meth for herbal tea,
let thier mohawks grow out and make their statements
quietly at township meetings instead of yelling out on
the street

But yeah, Im one of those people I used to hate....
But if I ever start watching Operah or Kelly and Regis
please kill me !!

I started watching Antiques Roadshow ... I bow my head in shame. But I think that Mythbusters rocks!! Adam and Jaimie have that yin/yang thing going.

LOL. I was going to say that once you become a homeowner, your punk days are over -- but on the other hand, there's a great deal of punkish satisfaction to be gained from railing against the local government!

I love Mythbusters! I especially recall the one where they did a study on whether or not fecal matter was found on our toothbrushes from just being in the bathroom......I've never again looked at my toothbrush the same!

I also like when they blow up stuff! Like that tanker truck? When they had to watch from miles away because of the explosion! I've also seen Antique Roadshow a few times, it made me wonder if I had anything of value....I've looked, notta!
I think I should nag my cable company about creating an 80's channel! I'm serious about this sh**!

heh
I am 52 but I think there is a lot of good stuff out there these days.
I don't know how gracefully I am aging, but I can't just stop listening to music simply because I'm old.
The White Stripes saved my sanity.
Maybe there will never be another Hendrix, but then there will never be another Beethoven, either.
New music keeps coming along. Some of it is awful, but people (like my own kids) keep turning me on to good stuff.
