So were staying at the Courtyard behind Fuddruckers and next to California Dreaming. It's less than a 1/4 mile from Barefoot Landing, i.e a 5 minute walk, but since there are no sidewalks , it's a 10-12 minute drive because Hwy 17 is the busiest road in the state and the traffic is insane. Also, the mall and Bass Pro is another 1/4 mile in the other direction, but again; no sidewalks. We really wanted to leave our car in the parking lot and walk, but that option is not available. My wife commented that if done properly Hwy. 17 could be like International Drive in Orlando, with tourists and residents alike walking up and done, visiting restaurants, shops and attractions. Alas, one of the worst things about SC in general is poor infrastructure, even in the upstate where we live, we have a serious lack of sidewalks.
Has there been discussions of putting in sidewalks up and down Hwy. 17 to make it more pedestrian friendly and less car dependent?
There are little foot paths made by people walking along the grass by the road shoulder so it is possible to walk if you want to but in single file. I know this because I have walked the section from the mall near Briarcliff (Myrtle Beach Mall) to Barefoot landing a few times.
Ok guess no one wants to say anything so I will. The Horry County Government stinks. That should sum it up for you. When we had our wildfire the firemen couldn't even get to parts of the county because lots of the area still isn't paved. Since saving people's houses doesn't seem to be a worry, I'm guessing sidewalks aren't either.

What's you next complaint going to be? First you griped because no one would make up your mind for you about coming, now you're complaining about the lack of sidewalks. What's next?

Whatever is bothering you; best thing to do is hug it out. Hug it out bro, hug it out.
