Hi! Me, my husband and our two kids are really interested in moving to TN soon. Somewhere around the Nashville area. With great schools, daycare, and maybe medical programs (college) near by, things for my little ones to do. Affordable housing, looking to rent for about a 1,000 a month right now. My husband has work history in plants, warehousing, Engineering. And would like to find jobs in that field. I'm a stay at home mom, but will definitely pick up a job, while attending school. Pretty much I would just like to get any advice on good areas, plenty of jobs, activities for my small ones, very diverse. So Thank you in advance =)

Number one. No flexibility unless you are financially independent of work, meaning super wealthy. Get a job before you come down. So many people come here thinking the unemployment rate is good (which it is) and assume they'll be able to find a job in a couple of weeks. Don't make that mistake. First find a job, then find a place to live.

Secondly, I would advise you to live outside of the Nashville Metro area, and drive down. Lots of people do this from Clarksville and Springfield every day. Clarksville is the 5th largest city in the state, and has most of everything you'd want to do in Nashville, most days.

I'm partial to northern Tennessee, but really any city within 20/30 minutes of Nashville is pretty good. Lots of places to buy and rent, and good schools to be found.

After y'all have found a job, then we can likely give you better opinions on where to live. Wouldn't want a Spring Hill auto job, and live in Clarksville/Gallatin/Springfield, etc.
