Add this byline to the proposed Super Bowl Ad we discussed a couple pages back.

LA is not a place I would ever want to move to, I love to visit but just taxes and home ownership alone is reason for me to never move to California. I do not like "nanny states" even thou I am left learning socially. I like libertarian states like Arizona, Colorado or Nevada before California. I went to Vanderbilt with a lot of California students and some loved it and some hated it. California is amazing but not for me for living. I do love visiting LA and SD and even the Bay Area as well. California does have amazing scenery and weather for the most part.

Yeah there's reasons to live there and not to live there. It is what it is and everyone has their own reasons. I don't agree with the politics of a lot of California but I always just enjoyed life around it and did my best to not let it affect my happiness. Nowhere is perfect.

Born and raised here and not a day goes by where I dream of leaving this city. I feel like the people here in Nashville either love the city or hate it. I live in Brentwood, tn and I would kill to live in California right now. Lets trade

The issue with the religion only comes up when they preach their stuff and don't want you to challenge them. I am a Christian who doesn't like the bible belt due to it being the belt buckle of extreme evangelical and pentecostalism. I believe in religous freedom as long as you are respectful of differences. When you verbalize your beliefs don't be offended when others challenge you on it.

Do not like it here and hopefully will be moving to Austin in the next year or so.

CONS: Pretty much everything LOREEBEE65 said. And, my health has gone downhill since I've moved here due to allergies and asthma and not being able to be as active as I was in SF.

But, you're moving from way north Cal so you will most likely like it. FWIW - I would not like living up there either.
Austin has high property tax rates as does most of Texas when compared to Tn. Home prices are not the bargain in Austin they might have been long ago. Cedar pollen is bad in Austin a few weeks out of a year, its the worst allergy I have by miles and makes austin not work for me. Just be aware of these significant items in any comparisons you do

We’re thinking about moving to Brentwood TN from Los Angeles on the coast people are telling me the mosquitoes insects are terrible & the weather is not great. The best part about living here is the weather & no insects. I know there are many people moving to the Nashville area.

Expect plenty of rainfall and more cloudy days, especially during winter. If you've lived your entire life in the West Coast, the climate of the Southeast might take years of adjustment. There is no such thing as long stretches of "very dry and sunny weather" with low humidity most of the year. In terms of cost of living, Tennessee does not have a state income tax minus revenues gleaned from interest and dividend investment incomes.

I have not yet been bothered by mosquitoes in my yard and it's been 9 years . . . guess I lucked out? And the Hall Tax on interest and dividends is being phased out. It will be eliminated in the tax year 2022. So two more years. YAY!
