To me, this is one of the most attractive things about Nashville.

Nashville really knows how to throw an incredible sports event. I can see why pro teams want to be in Nashville.

Come on down, MLB, Nashville's waiting.

Here's an article from the New York Times last week on the movement to bring major league baseball to Nashville.

[Dave] Dombrowski, 63, was named last week as an adviser to Music City Baseball, a group that wants to bring an expansion team to Nashville.

“Looking out my hotel room, I can see one, two, three” — he counted to 11 — “cranes for buildings being built downtown,” Dombrowski said. “So the town is just booming, and it’s going to continue to do it. It’s a young city, with a vibrant entertainment area, hockey has done great, and they just added a soccer team.”

Dombrowski is not alone in the effort. The advisory group also includes the Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa and the former All-Star pitcher Dave Stewart, who was recruited by his friend John Loar, a longtime real estate developer in California who moved to Nashville in 2018 and is the group’s managing director. Alberto Gonzales, the former United States attorney general, is chairman of the board.

Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo., is another board member, and the plan is to call the team the Nashville Stars, after a Negro leagues team.

the thing is Nashville crowds are good, but if they can somehow pull off an MLB team, that's 4 of the 5 main sports in Nashville. I know Nashville is growing but that's way too small of a market in my opinion for 4 major league teams. I would personally wait, let MLB pick Montreal/Vancouver/San Antonio, and after Nashville grows/proves it can support 3 teams, poach the Rays or Marlins or A's and bring them to Nashville.

I would argue the difference between Nashville and the other cities you mentioned is Nashville's brand and celebrity/wealthy support network. The market size is debatable because in reality the Nashville region supports populations from three other states including Kentucky, Alabama, and southern Illinois, as well as those from East Tennessee who visit the city regularly for entertainment, shopping, medical, and educational services. I agree with you that it would be a tough feat.

Nashville is a tourist destination that brings lots of opponents fans to our city. I think MLB would work in Nashville because it is played in the summer when Nashville is at it's busiest tourist wise.
