I always put water out for the birds, wildlife. I have what I guess is some aluminum type bird bath (I can't life the heavier ones) - it's getting corroded or whatever in the bottom - is there a way to maybe spray w/some kind of enamel paint or something safe?

Maybe marine paint (Duralux- a quart is about 27$, maybe a spray can is available), which you can purchase in Home Depot or on line. Let it cure for a few days.. Perhaps clean off the corrosion first with a metal brush and vinegar..

But maybe you'd be better off just getting a clay bird bath.. they aren't as heavy as the concrete ones.. we have one and the birds like it.. We do clean it daily by just brushing it out with a broom.

I wouldn't use marine paints...many have toxic anti-fouling agents that will kill marine organisms.
