Hello everybody...
I'm really wanting a beach vacation. I can come out for 4 days or so. But, other than Wildwood Crest, I've not been to the Jersey Shore at all. I'd like your recs on family-oriented, not-too-rowdy, not-overly-expensive places to stay. I'm traveling with my daughter and her SO--they'd be in one room, me in another. I'd like a place on or as close to the ocean as possible, and I'd like it for $200 or so per day. I've been searching via internet AND tripadvisor, and am more perplexed than ever. And, I've already been calling---I spoke with someone on Long Beach Island (Lorry's End) who has rooms/seemed nice; I spoke with someone at The Amethyst, but she said her place isn't on the oceanfront, though it is "close" to the beach. Not having been there, I don't want to reserve and then drive so far to find myself walking blocks to get to the water. So give me your recs, please! With much appreciation...your PA Neighbor
There are plenty of places you can stay, however your rates will fluctuate depending on what day(s) you will be staying.
Here are some places:
Long Branch - AMAZING place, clean, well kept, great restaurants, nice beaches, shopping, overall a very nice area. This area to stay will probably be a bit expensive, but definitely check into it.
Atlantic City - My favorite place to go, but then again, I enjoy going into the casinos. Great boardwalk, games, and rides for kids. TONS of restaurants, premier shopping outlets, lots of casinos that may have shows playing, etc. Again, rates will depend on if you stay in a casino, and what day. Sun-Thurs are pretty darn cheap to stay at one of the casinos. They have a few beach bars here too.
Seaside Heights - typical "Jersey Shore". Haven't been here in a while, but attracts a younger crowd. The boardwalk is fun, games, rides, food - not sure about room rates.
Point Pleasant - i think this is just like Seaside but nicer IMO. you will have to check out the room rates.

Hope this helps.
I also think CAPE MAY or SEA BRIGHT might be a nice fit....
Been to Sea Bright more recently and it's lovely (not Cape May since I was younger for family vacations... but I have really great memories of family vacays there.)
