We used to have a forum member who considered herself to be quite the expert on the topic of schools and school districts, and she consistently stated that people should be "weary" regarding certain districts. Yup! She was truly a person who should be advising people on the topic of education.

Another mix-up that puzzles me has to do with the people who use the word "worse" when "worst" is the correct word usage--as in "that is the worse restaurant".

Then, we have the people who... somehow... think that the two words "a lot" have morphed into one non-word, namely "alot".

Same thing happens in some parts of the country with short i and short e. That's the pin/pen merger.

I used to wonder, reading on City-Data, how so many people could mix up "since" and "sense". They sound different and they are spelled differently enough that there shouldn't be a mistake. Then I realized that some people pronounce "sense" just like "since".

I hear the other ones, but not mine.
